A recall is a request to all specific automobile owners by a specific automobile company. While manufacturing car, if any mistakes are committed by engineers of the company, they may lead to potential accidents and disasters. In such cases, the company recalls all cars were manufactured with faulty components and provides free service or replacement.

2005 Audi A8 Recall

There was only one 2005 Audi A8 recall, which was related to problem with the drive-train. In 2005, the parent company of Audi, Volkswagen recalled 13,900 Audi A8 cars that were loaded with a faulty five-speed automatic transmission. The problem was that the locking wire came out of its exact place over time. As a result, the shifter could come out of the position even if the ignition key was not placed inside of the ignition hold.

This could permit the car to move unintentionally, and lead to an accident. Dealers were requested to modify the automatic transmission holding wire through a regulated piece that would secure the holding wire in place. The recall was started in the month of September, 2005.
